Group Therapy for New Moms
The early months after birth can feel intense in ways no one prepared you for. Sleep is broken. Your body is recovering. Your brain is running hot. Even with a supportive partner or family nearby, mothers can feel isolated, overwhelmed, or unlike themselves.
The Postpartum Den offers weekly clinical group therapy for mothers in Tennessee. Led by licensed perinatal-trained clinicians, they are built for new moms who want weekly support and structure during life with a new baby and tools that make the weeks feel more manageable.
Postpartum Group Therapy Criteria
Our mom groups are for moms who are..
- Feeling down, tearful, flat, or not quite like yourself
- Worry that feels louder at night or when the baby is hard to soothe
- Getting stuck in overthinking, spirals, or second guessing yourself
- Feeling more irritable than usual, with a shorter fuse
- Ruminating on a birth experience that still feels hard to think about
- Having new relationship strains or concerns
- Feeling isolated, overwhelmed, or alone in it
Who our groups are not for
- Moms with daily symptoms that impact day to day functioning
- Moms experiencing psychosis, mania, or severe disconnection from reality.
- Moms recommended for an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Our Difference
The Postpartum Den’s groups are clinical group therapy, different from social mom groups or support groups that are often peer led and non-clinical. Our clinical groups are facilitated by licensed therapists specializing in postpartum mental wellness. Group therapy reduces isolation and adds momentum. You learn strategies in real time, hear what’s working for others, and leave each group with tools to use the same day. The consistent support helps you get unstuck, stay accountable, and make progress between sessions.
